The Effect of Working Memory Training on Vocabulary Recall and Retention of Iranian EFL Learners

چکیده

Working memory plays an important role in learning since it serves as the buffer between past sensations and future behavior, making essential to understand not only how we encode recall sensory information but also plan for its upcoming use. This study examined effect of working training on vocabulary retention Iranian EFL learners using dual N-back task technique. requires individual remember item that was presented a certain number items previously. To this end, 50 were randomly assigned experimental (n = 25) control groups. The participants taught 100 English words 20 sessions. In each session, group received n-back task. After treatment, immediate delayed posttests administered. obtained data analyzed through two-way repeated-measures ANOVA independent samples t-tests. results showed outperformed target words’ retention.
